glowing skin

Glowing skin is something all women crave. Hormonal issues, nutritional deficiencies, and stress can sometimes derail that dream. And, who would have thought that as adults we would still be getting acne breakouts! Fortunately, there are some nutritional tweaks you can take advantage to bring that glow back.

Some key nutrients for happy skin include:

Vitamin A: This nutrient helps your cells rejuvenate themselves and is found in numerous skin care products. This vitamin aids in reducing wrinkles, fading brown spots and smoothing rough skin. Good sources of vitamin A are sweet potatoes, carrots, kale, squash, romaine lettuce, cantaloupe, and sweet red peppers.

Vitamin B: keeps skin smooth and supple.  Good sources include eggs, soy products, whole grains and nutritional yeast.

Vitamin CThis nutrient is key for production of collagen, which keeps your skin elastic and prevents sagging. Citrus fruits, cauliflower, papaya, pineapple, kiwis, raspberries, cantaloupe, tomatoes, bell peppers, kale, and strawberries great sources.

Zinc:  Deficiencies can create a dull complexion and lumps under your skin. You can get your zinc from pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, brewer’s yeast, mushrooms, beans, nuts and whole grains.

Antioxidant-rich foods: These amazing foods will help prevent free radical damage to your skin and body. Blueberries, raspberries, acai berries, goji berries, green tea and raw cacao are all loaded with antioxidants.

High-quality omega-3s: This essential fatty acid helps to create a glowing complexion by reducing inflammation and giving the skin a fresh smooth look. Include walnuts, chia, hemp and flax seeds to insure you are getting enough of this essential nutrient.
